Grace's Story: From Uncertain Beginnings to Inspired Impact

After losing her father to HIV, Grace’s family was thrown into crisis. Her mother, suddenly alone with five children, had no income and no resources. In desperation, she sold every possession they had just to feed her children. But even that wasn’t enough. Eventually, the family had nowhere left to turn and were forced to live on the streets exposed, vulnerable, and without hope for what tomorrow might bring. Grace was just a toddler.

When Grace came to us at only two years old

At only two years old, Grace was welcomed into Salem Children Centre, a place of refuge for children who have nowhere else to go. It was there she first experienced safety, consistency, and the basic care every child deserves. But while her immediate needs were met, she still faced an uncertain future.

Everything changed when True Impact Ministries began sponsoring Grace at the age of nine. Through the sponsorship program, she gained more than food, school supplies, and medical care. She was given something even more powerful...the belief that her life mattered and her future could be different. Letters from sponsors, prayer, encouragement, and the steady presence of people who believed in her created the foundation she had never known in her earliest years.

That foundation grew. The scared little girl who once had no place to sleep became a determined young woman, full of purpose and passion. Grace worked hard in school, inspired by the very people who had poured into her. Now, the full circle moment has come. Grace is a professional Early Childhood teacher at Salem Christian School, the very place where she once received her own education and care.She’s also continuing her studies at Mutetea Royal University, building on her knowledge so she can reach even more children like herself.“I grew up seeing Andy Stewart as a father,” Grace says. “He loved me and supported me. I am who I am because of True Impact.”Grace’s story is not just about one child’s transformation. It’s a living, breathing testament to the impact of faith, generosity, and showing up for someone in need. She was a seed planted in hardship, but nurtured with love—and now she stands strong, offering shade and strength to others.
