Immanuel Children’s Home and Education Centre

In the village of Wandawa, just outside of Jinja, Immanuel Children’s Home serves as a safe and nurturing refuge for children who have experienced loss, hardship, and instability. Since 2013, True Impact Ministries has partnered with Pastors Isaac and Peruth Mwakwe to provide not only shelter but also a place of healing, belonging, and opportunity for children in need.

Our partnership began with the construction of a dormitory and a clean water well. These two foundational resources immediately transformed daily life for the children living at the home. With a safe place to sleep and reliable access to clean drinking water, the children were able to begin building new routines marked by safety and care.

In 2014, we expanded the work by building the first classrooms of the Immanuel Christian Education Centre. More classrooms were added in 2016, creating a consistent and supportive learning environment. These spaces now allow children to receive a quality, faith-based education within walking distance of where they live.

Today, Immanuel Children’s Home is home to 30 children who are supported in every area of life. The children attend As One Secondary School in the nearby town of Iganga and return each day to a place where they are loved, mentored, and encouraged to pursue their God-given potential. They receive food, clothing, tuition, and spiritual guidance within a consistent and caring community. Pastors Isaac and Peruth do more than lead the program. They walk closely with each child, offering encouragement and pastoral care as they grow into young adults.

What is happening at Immanuel is quiet but powerful. In a small village far from the noise of the city, lives are being restored and futures are being built through steady investment, compassionate leadership, and God’s grace. Immanuel is not just a home. It is a place where broken stories are rewritten, and children are given the space and support to dream again.
